Class Specialties

Class specialties are vocational subjects that are assigned to classes so that students can engage in work-based learning. The purpose of class specialties are:

To foster essential skills that further student self-independence
To promote workplace readiness
To teach “transitional skills” that make connections to post-secondary life and work life
To help students apply their learning to real life by teaching functional academics
To promote student communication and engagement
To encourage students to advocate for their wants, needs, and interests
To teach responsibility & accountability.
