About Aveyron

MISSION STATEMENT

The Brooklyn School for Career Development (BCSD) is a learning community steeped in collaboration, understanding, and respect. Our common interests are embedded in improving student learning and providing authentic instruction. Brooklyn School for Career Development provides instructional experiences that are tailored to students' individual needs. Our driving philosophy is that all students can learn. Specialized learning environments facilitate seamless student transition into the world of work and continuing education to become active members of society. Through the implementation of academically rigorous programs, rich in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), students achieve personal, academic, and vocational success. Programs are aligned with the Next Generation Learning Standards (NGLS) to equip our students with the necessary tools to become successful 21st-century learners. Through a collaborative effort, dynamic curricula are created by highly-trained professionals that empower students to apply their knowledge beyond the classroom.
VISION FOR THE FUTURE

Aveyron Academy is committed to a rich and challenging tradition of excellence where every decision is made with the students' best interest in mind. We recognize the value of all stakeholders in the school community and endeavor to foster a collaborative partnership between all members of our school community. At Aveyron Academy, all students are empowered to achieve success.
CORE BELIEF SYSTEM

As educators, it is our job to create the optimal setting to facilitate learning based on our knowledge of our students and their abilities. At Aveyron Academy, we nurture a culture of respect and encourage all members of our community to challenge the status quo.
We believe that the best way to enhance instruction is by emphasizing close reading of informational texts, stressing higher order thinking, and developing deep understandings in all subjects. As our students work towards post-secondary readiness, they must have the opportunity to engage in rigorous thought through collaboration, analysis, and synthesis.
